Lafourche Parish Government

Lafourche Parish operates under a Home Rule Charter, which provides for separate legislative and executive branches independent of each other. Legislative matters are handled by an elected nine-member Council, while the elected Parish President serves as administrator. The Economic Development Director falls under the direction of Lafourche Parish Government.

Municipalities

There are three incorporated municipalities in Lafourche Parish: Thibodaux, Golden Meadow, and Lockport. Each community has an elected Mayor.

Industrial Development Board of the Parish of Lafourche, Inc.

The Industrial Development Board was formed to assist the Parish with economic development projects. The volunteer Board of Directors works with governing bodies of Lafourche Parish to evaluate and coordinate possible incentives for new and expanding businesses.
