Searcy’s Municipal Airport is one of the faster growing top general aviation airports in the state with 100 or more based aircraft with daily corporate and private business operations. The airport also welcomes many charter operations, fire fighting, medical transplant and rescue operations and fixed wing and rotor craft flight training activities. The extended runway is 6,008 feet in length and 100 feet wide with a weight capacity of 80,000 pounds. The airport is equipped with state-of- the-art instrument approach facilities, FAA computerized, automated weather stations as well as runway and approach lighting for all weather operations.
The airport is capable of accommodating G5 ACFT and serves a variety of corporations and businesses that fly jets, turbo-props and piston ACFT into and out of the airport on a regular basis. The airport is attended from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily and is open to flight operations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Self serve fuel is available as well as hanger space and maintenance.

The controlled access four lane divided US Highway 167/67 passes through the Searcy city limits and ties us directly to Interstate 40 and Interstate 30 in Little Rock.
US Highway 67 is a controlled access interstate quality divided highway that runs from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas through Searcy to Little Rock, Arkansas. In Little Rock, US 67 connects to Interstate 30 and Interstate 40.
US highway 64 is located ten miles to our north and connects Northeastern Arkansas to interstate I-40 in Marion.
The primary railroad serving Searcy and White County is Union Pacific which is located 2.5 miles from the city limits.
Located 34.6 miles from Searcy, the Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad has 483 miles of track running from just north of Newport, Arkansas (the Diaz, Arkansas Junction with Union Pacific) to Kansas City, Missouri. It has interchanges with the BNSF at Joplin, Missouri, the Kansas City Southern (Joplin, Missouri) and the Union Pacific (in both Kansas City, Missouri and Newport). Railcar storage is available along this short line railroad.
The Port of Little Rock encompasses 2,640 acres of industrial property and has two barge docking facilities, one on a slack water harbor and the other on the main navigation channel. The Port owns and maintains its own railroad that handles over 10,000 cars/year. The port supports over 50 industrial firms that employ over 3,500 people. The Little Rock area is served by five interstate highways: I-40 and I-30 are major commercial routes serving both coasts, and I-430 and I-630 are loops that link the major routes. I-440 directly connects the two main interstates and serves the airport and the Little Rock Port Authority.

Via water The Little Rock Terminal has two service areas, consisting of the Main terminal dock area, utilizing two river barge berths served by a 175 ton Manitowoc crane and a 125 ton American crane, with additional berthing available for rail/truck transfers of bulk products to river/LASH barge via river conveyor. The U.S. inland river system provides industrial access to 14,000 miles of U.S. intercoastal and navigable inland waterways as well as Gulf Ports that participate in international shipping and trade.

Located 69.6 miles from Searcy, the 375-acre Harbor Industrial District at the Port of Pine Bluff is a land development project of the Port Authority. A 20-acre public terminal facility has been developed by the Port Authority and is leased to Watco Terminal and Port Services for operation. This arrangement assures access to low-cost water transportation for all shippers in the Pine Bluff area and South and Central Arkansas. The Port Authority is dedicated to maximum development and utilization of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the nation's inland waterways, the five navigable rivers in the state, and the Port of Pine Bluff.

Business firms and individuals are subject to annual property tax on all real and personal property.

Our current sales tax rate is 9.75 %. It is comprised of 6.5 % State tax, 1.5% County tax, .25% County Fire Departments tax and 1.5% City tax.

The city operates under a mayor/council form of government. The mayor, clerk treasurer and city attorney serves a four-year term. The eight aldermen serve two-year terms. The mayor is responsible for management of all the city’s departments and custodian of all city property, while the clerk treasurer is responsible for records and all financial documentation. The alderman review and pass all city resolutions and ordinances. The city is served by more than 200 workers including a 60 plus member police department and a 50 plus member fire department. Searcy is currently rated a Public Protection Class 1 by the Insurance Services Office (ISO).
In addition, the city operates the following departments: Street, Sanitation, Code Enforcement, Parks and Recreation, Searcy Municipal Airport, District Court, Engineering and Information Technology with the White County Regional Library being operated jointly by the city and the county.
The White County government provides services to all citizens in the county. Departments and agencies include: Cooperative Extension Service, County Roads, Department of Public Welfare, Health Department, Detention Center, Office of Emergency Services, Juvenile Probation Officer and Voter Registration.
The county judge is the chief executive officer for the county and serves a four-year term. The residents elect a county-wide legislative body called the quorum court, composed of 13 justices of the peace, each representing a geographic district within the county.Together, the county judge and the justices of the peace govern the county.
